About Decker

Decker is currently in Georgia and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to secure his spot on transport to Cedarburg, Wisconsin with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, July 11. A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we're hopeful the right family is out there. Meet Decker, a gorgeous Retriever mix (best guess) who is ready to leave his past behind and start fresh. This handsome 3-year-old was found as a stray and arrived at the shelter with some skin issues, likely from spending time on his own. After receiving the care he needed, he's healing beautifully, and his coat is already looking better every day. The shelter staff absolutely adore Decker and can't say enough wonderful things about him. They describe him as an incredibly sweet, easygoing dog who has quickly become a favorite. He's very dog-friendly and enjoys spending time with other dogs, making him a great fit for a home with a canine companion. At 37 pounds, Decker is the perfect medium-sized companion. He has a gentle, loving personality and is ready to trade shelter life for a family of his own. Whether it's going for walks, hanging out in the backyard, or simply relaxing with his people, Decker will be happiest just being part of the family. His pictures are cute, but everyone at the shelter agrees they don't come close to capturing how handsome he is in person. Once you meet him, it's easy to see why everyone loves him so much. Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it̢s the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
