About Ruby

Hi, I'm Ruby! I'm a sweet, devoted 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel girl with gorgeous tri-color parti coloring and big brown eyes that'll melt your heart. I weigh a trim 25lbs and I positively wiggle with joy when I'm happy! My person passed away, and I'm hoping to find a new favorite human. I'm shy at first with new people, but once I warm up, I bond completely and love to be near my person - cuddling in bed at night, sitting close by, just knowing you're there. Someone has always been home with me, so I'd do best with a family who isn't gone for long stretches. I'm a good talker and house protector! I'll bark when strangers come to the door, or when golf carts, the lawn crew, or big trucks pass by so city/condo life is not for me. I also get a little nervous during thunderstorms but who doesn't, right? I don't know many other dogs but I have liked the ones I've met including a little dog who used to visit me. I've never been around cats or kids, but I may be ok with older, dog-savvy kids who understand I can be a little skittish. I'm fully housetrained and will let you know when I need to go out. I'm a good passenger in the car, an easy keeper for the groomer, and I don't get into mischief around the house. I do need a harness instead of a collar (I can be a bit of an escape artist!), and I like short walks with encouragement - I don't like to be far away from my house. I'm in great health and I have a lot of love to give. I'm hoping to find a patient human who will help me feel more brave out in the big world.
