About Dolly

Dolly is a beautiful Australian Shepherd/Husky cross breed who will turn 2 years old in Nov '26 and is 35 pounds. Her coloring and markings are gorgeous and unique! A five color Blue Merle with white, silver, black, with gray splashes and tips of tan on her legs. Her Racoon-like mask, beautiful tall fuzzy ears and soft fur are a must see (and feel) in person! Dolly is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. She was rescued from a kill shelter and is currently in a foster home. From Dolly's foster: To describe Dolly: Very intelligent, fast learner, likes direction, bonds quickly, very sweet, very playful, very athletic, very affectionate, very happy & inquisitive! She has not displayed the desire to wonder or escape like a pure bred Husky but she knows how to unlatch a kennel gate! She enjoys running, wrestling with playmates, exploring the yard for bugs, fetching balls and going on adventures. She is quiet and calm during car rides. She would be the perfect hiking partner due to her high endurance, athleticism and love to be with her person. She loves baths and playing with stuffies! She gathers and tracks her stuffies inside and out. She is very vocal like her Husky ancestors and will talk back to you inside! She is house trained and signals to go out by standing starring at you and wagging her entire body. If you ignore her she'll sweetly bark at you until you get the message! Dolly has had the benefit of her foster humans being home all day and she gets to run and play all day with four foster fur-siblings. She has never been confined to a crate at her foster home and will accept temporary confinement in a large outdoor kennel on the deck so long as she has plenty of water (she is provided fresh water wherever she goes). She is a high-energy, intelligent girl so she will need physical and mental outlets throughout the day in order to keep her happy and balanced especially during the first half of the day! The ideal home for Dolly would be with someone who works from home or is retired and is home most of the day. Experience with Aussies, Huskies or similar breeds is a MUST. An Aussky experienced family with older children above the age of 12 (if any). The ideal environment would be a rural setting where she can run and explore outside all day. She would love a compatible dog playmate but would thrive as an only dog so long as her human is a bonafide dog lover and enjoys her company. She is young, high endurance and inquisitive so she needs an extra large interesting fenced yard with mature shade trees to rest with a lot of fresh water. She loves to explore and hunt bugs with her buddy. Of course she would be thrilled to have one-on-one time with her human and go on rigorous adventures outdoor! Dolly is a medium size dog but also young and powerful. She plays very rough like a working breed so 'playmates' should be at least of similar size and energy level like a cattle dog etc. Dolly does have a male dog preference but she gets along well with female dogs as well. Dolly chases (herds) cats but has never harmed them. She has shown to be protective of the Foster's cat herding off the resident dogs when they chase it. She has not been around children at her foster home. It is not recommended that she be around birds, she has killed birds.
