About Howie

Howie is a handsome 1-year-old black brindle pit bull/shepherd mix with a big heart and tons of love to give. At 77 pounds, he's a strong boy, but beneath that tough look is an incredibly sweet dog who just needs a little time and patience to trust new people and situations. Unfortunately, Howie hasn't had the easiest start in life, and new environments and situations can make him quite nervous. He can also be a bit reactive on leash, so he'll need a strong, patient adopter willing to help build his confidence and continue his socialization and training. The good news? Once Howie feels safe, his playful, loving personality starts to shine, especially with other dogs in our shelter play groups, where he truly enjoys making canine friends. This sweet, under-socialized boy is looking for someone willing to take him under their wing and show him the love, stability, and guidance he's been missing.
