Urgent!!!! this handsome boy will be killed on 7/2 for high levels of FAS (fear anxiety stress)!!!! Video: https://fb.watch/I0pzgcyFWF/?mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e MARIO #A2257825 IS DEADLINED FOR EUTHANASIA: 8AM THUR 7/2/26!!! This sweet & loving Dobie is scheduled to die due to kennel stress (spinning, barking, jumping up in his kennel). Shelter life is very hard on large dogs like MARIO and so much prolonged cage confinement has been taking a toll on him. He spends the vast majority of his time locked away in his concrete cell, many days not stepping outside for even a second. Every day, MARIO desperately waits at his kennel door hoping someone will give him relief. He does jump and bark for attention. He sticks his paws out through small opening above his door handle trying to grab anyone's attention. He is stressed and confused when people stand at his door or walk past him without letting him out. He is having a hard time. Last week, a volunteer requested a day outing for MARIO to help him decompress and ease his kennel stress. But MARIO needed more time receiving medication for what is believed to be an overactive salivary gland and, sadly, while waiting for clearance to enjoy this outing, yesterday, MARIO was alerted for euthanasia. MARIO came to South LA as a stray dog in February. From the start, MARIO was friendly & engaging with staff but scared of cage confinement. He was known to actively seek attention and affection from staff during morning rounds (whining and barking for attention but described as friendly, with wagging tail and excitement). This month, however, staff began reporting behavioral decline (jumping, spinning, drooling, barking in kennel). Simply put, this good boy needs out of the shelter environment. He is loving, happy, and playful when he's out of his shelter cage. We hope someone will save this sweet boy and give him the good life that he deserves. Adopt MARIO. MARIO #A2257825, 3 years old, 70 Ibs, neutered male Doberman/Sheperd. The shelter is open Tuesday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday & Sundays 11am-5pm. Mondays for emergencies only.
