About Cole

Cole is a sweet, affectionate, pocket size, 42 lb, 1-year-old 'honorary boxer' mix who is looking for a patient, loving forever home. He is playful, energetic & best in fenced yard, where he can safely run, play, and burn off his puppy energy. Best if he is paired with an easy going female as he has been living with another female pup in his foster home - they love to play together! He's also doing well around cats! Cole is treat-motivated, loves food and already knows how to sit for meals and learned to play with toys. He has made much progress since coming into rescue, so just needs to keep practicing what he has learned through trainings. Cole can get jumpy when excited, but responds well to correction and we are happy to share, his potty training is at about 90% now. A consistent routine helps build his confidence. Cole came to us very timid, but with training, he has improved well on leash walks. Because of his background, he may be cautious with some men at first, so he needs more time & patience to accept as one of the family. Once he feels safe, Cole is incredibly loving and enjoys cuddling. Cole is crate trained and does best when crated at night or when left alone, since he can be a curious chewer. He loves safe chew toys like antlers or Kong toys. His story is a sad one - he was previously living as a stray alongside a homeless person, and when that person left, he was left behind all alone.
