About Mickey

Mickey is a 3-year-old neutered Great Pyrenees/Shepherd/Lab mix looking for a home that understands and appreciates the unique qualities of his working-breed heritage. This handsome boy was lovingly owner-surrendered when his family realized they simply did not have enough time to devote to him. Mickey previously lived in a home located on the corner of a busy neighborhood, where he happily appointed himself as the official neighborhood watchdog. True to his Great Pyrenees and Shepherd roots, Mickey took his self-assigned job very seriously, keeping an eye on everything happening around his property. If someone walked by the house, chances are they knew Mickey was on duty! Mickey is extremely potty-trained and has excellent house manners. In his previous home, he would reliably go to the back door to let his family know he needed to go outside. He already knows sit, stay, and down and enjoys spending time with his people. Mickey loves toys and has a playful side that shines once he gets comfortable. His favorites include squeaky toys, bones, Frisbees, ropes, and tennis balls. He also enjoys chasing chipmunks and keeping tabs on the wildlife around him. Mickey would do best as the only dog in the home. While he enjoys human companionship, he prefers not to share his living space with other dogs. He has successfully lived with a cat and did very well during his temperament evaluation with our office cat. During feeding situations, he would occasionally give a low growl if the cat walked around him while he was eating, so management and supervision around food are recommended. Outside of mealtime, he coexisted peacefully and comfortably with feline companions. Because of his breed mix, Mickey is not the type of dog who will be happiest spending all day indoors with little to do. He needs a family willing to provide him with time, engagement, and an outlet for his natural instincts. A home with space to roam, explore, patrol, and enjoy the outdoors would be ideal. Mickey thrives when he has a purpose and enjoys being included in daily activities with his people. Mickey is looking for a family that understands that dogs like him were bred to think independently, observe their surroundings, and protect what they love. In return, he will offer unwavering loyalty, companionship, and dedication to his family.
