About Timber

A little more about Timber: �'ۢ Timber previously underwent formal training, though we are unsure when or for how long. He responds very well to commands in both German and English. �'ۢ His favorite thing in the world is tennis balls. �'ۢ He is crate trained and views his crate as a safe space. He sleeps and eats in his crate and stays there comfortably when we leave the house. �'ۢ He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo/Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccinations through May 21, 2027. �'ۢ His heartworm and Lyme test were negative in May. �'ۢ To our knowledge, he has no significant medical concerns. �'ۢ He previously lived with two cats. �'ۢ He does well with other dogs but appears happiest in a home where he can receive more individualized attention, so only him or maybe one other dog. �'ۢ Due to his unknown history with children, we would prefer a home with older children or adults only. �'ۢ He does very well off leash with us, and we have not needed to use his electronic collar. As we've gotten to know Timber over the last five weeks, we've learned some important things about his boundaries and routines: �'ۢ His crate is very important to him as a safe space. He does not respond well if he is forced into the crate and may growl or snap when pressured. �'ۢ He can be protective of his collar. For example, if he is already crated and someone attempts to remove his collar, he may grumble. �'ۢ After vigorous exercise, he needs time to settle and decompress before being crated and expected to rest. If rushed, he may communicate his discomfort through growling or snapping. �'ۢ When he is highly excited or anticipating activity, he does not like people crowding his head or face. �'ۢ When relaxed, he is affectionate and enjoys being close to his people. He is comfortable with petting, cuddling, and physical affection. �'ۢ He does not appear to enjoy having his paws handled. Overall, Timber has been a good dog in our care. We have simply learned the management style and boundaries that help him be successful, and we believe he would thrive with an experienced owner who understands working breeds and respects those boundaries.
