First, he is absolutely convinced that 100 pounds is an acceptable lap dog size. Second, if you're looking for personal space, he is probably not your guy. And third, if you happen to be handing out affection, he would like all of it. Immediately. We believe Scrappie may have been one of the original Lucky Crew dogs, and while his early life left him with very little structure, training or life experience, he somehow managed to grow into one of the sweetest, goofiest and most lovable dogs you'll ever meet. We know based on DNA tests of others in the home that there is some poodle, Husky, golden mixes but our guess for Scrappie is: 40% Poodle 25% Husky 20% Golden Retriever 15% random farm dog (Remember, this is purely a guess) And for what it's worth, he's ridiculously handsome. He looks like someone asked AI to generate 'a shaggy polar bear that gives hugs.' This big fluffy dude is all about people. He wants to know what you're doing, where you're going, whether you're sitting down and if there's room for him to join you. (There isn't. He'll join you anyway.) Despite his size, Scrappie is surprisingly soft-hearted. He's easy to correct, eager to please and genuinely wants to learn. If he makes a mistake, he takes direction well and moves on. No drama. No grudges. Just a dog trying his best to figure out this whole 'being a family pet' thing. Now, let's talk about his one character flaw. Scrappie is a bit of a dreamer. By that, we mean if given the opportunity, he may decide there are important adventures happening somewhere beyond the fence line. He isn't trying to run away from home. He's simply curious about what exists in the next zip code. Because of this, a secure physical fence is required. He is good with other dogs and previously lived with a cat years ago. He enjoys companionship and would likely love another friendly dog, but his favorite thing in the world is still people. Things Scrappie excels at: %90%BE Cuddling %90%BE Leaning his entire body weight against you %90%BE Looking majestic %90%BE Following people around %90%BE Accepting affection %90%BE Giving affection %90%BE Convincing you he is actually much smaller than 100 pounds Things Scrappie is still working on: %90%BE Accepting that fences are not personal insults %90%BE Understanding that not every couch was built specifically for him Scrappie isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for his person. Someone who appreciates a giant fluffy shadow, doesn't mind a little dog hair and understands that sometimes the best dogs are the ones still figuring life out. If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption can be finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175. All residents are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. A secure physically fenced yard is prioritized if a yard is present. Temperament cannot be and is not guaranteed.
