Nala is a 7ish year old, 45 lb, spayed and vaccinated female, mostly cattle dog (heeler)/pitt/lab mix who has a lot to give. I want to find a loving home for her as I can no longer keep up with her needs due to my own health issues. She is intelligent and trained, but would much prefer to be on a farm/ranch with a job and a very consistent leader. She loves human affection and running above all else and prefers to sleep in her crate (door open like a den). True to her breeds, Nala is very active, agile, energetic, independent and protective. She is loyal to her main person, and will guard them and the herd (including family) from any 4 legged creature bigger than a cat. She loves to chase, run, nip heels (blue heeler), and wrestle, but has no interest in common housepet games (fetch, tug, etc). As much as she enjoys an outdoor play fight/chase with her one neighbor buddy here, she would do best to be the only active dog in the family (but with the right highly trained oversight, could integrate with a passive dog). When she's not doing whatever herding job you train her for, she enjoys naps in the sun, indoor or outside, but is always up for a run and rarely wears out. Nala has two coats and as such sheds a fair bit, but her hair is short. She is extremely patient during any grooming/bathing/nail trim, but isn't eager to jump into water. She's not a chewer (no problems with furniture, etc), or into toys, but does enjoy a good bone naw to let off steam. We don't do dog biscuits, but she loves some crunchy dog friendly veggies and fruit, and of course a chicken foot or beef heart/liver treat from the farmer's market. She likes to roam, so she will need to be contained, but isn't likely to jump a regular fence. I'm heartbroken to part with my sweet girl. But my severe health decline requires a new home abs frequent travel for me, where she can't go. I'm willing to travel for the right home for her. If you or anyone you know has a farm or ranch where she can work off her energy with other two or four legged folks, and will be loved on for it, Please send me a message with any questions.
