Meet Evie This quiet beauty has an unknown past, but she is ready to shine. Evie has been with us for more than a year. She was surrendered to us as a completely feral kitten. She was so vulnerable and scared. She just needed a place where she could be safe and not have to navigate the dangers that feral cats and kittens are exposed to. When she arrived, Evie lived with our other kittens. She mixed in just fine but when people were in the kitten room, she hid. One of our thoughtful team members decided to move her to the cat room, which is a lot calmer and has a different energy to see how she would do. Wow! The transformation has been incredible! Evie almost immediately started to mimic the cool and calm vibe of our older kitties. Evie is really enjoying the cat room and has begun to come out of her shell. Where once Evie hid whenever humans came around, in the cat room, she is walking around while we're in there. She's not yet ready for pets and purrs, but she is also not scared and hiding. Progress! She is curious and exploring a lot more. Evie will need a quiet, calm, and very patient home. Although she is beautiful and many will be tempted to adopt her because of her looks, Evie needs a special kind of family or person. She'll need a home that doesn't push her but lets her move forward at her own pace. A home dedicated to helping Evie understand that she is safe and protected. She might even do well with another calm kitty in the home to show her that all is good. Whatever trauma she experienced as a very young kitten has stayed with her, but we can see she is now ready to move past. It could take weeks, months or even years for Evie to fully trust her people. Experience has shown us that these quiet kitties often blossom when in a loving home. We think Evie has that potential. If you are an experienced kitty person or family and are willing to give this beauty a home and give her all the time she needs to feel safe, Evie would be very grateful. If interested in welcoming Evie to your family, and you're willing to commit to her being an inside-only cat, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org.
