Those of you that rescue/adopt these Shepherds in need instead of paying a Breeder, YOU are the REAL TRUE HEROES. Thank you so much. [Case opened on 6/18/26]. URGENT!!! West Anderson, Indiana. (willing to drive up to 2.5 hours). 2.5 Y/O FEMALE GSD (DOB: 10/18/23). Her name is 'Shyla May'. Background: Current Shepherd Parent has had Shyla May since she was a puppy from a friend's litter. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids she lives with, currently lives with a 13-year-old. HOWEVER, due to Resource Guarding Issues, Shyla May would do best in a home with NO children, and definitely NO younger children. NOT Good with dogs due to Resource Guarding issues. NOT Good with cats. House trained. Crate trained. Any known medical issues?: None disclosed. Abuse/Neglect/Trauma History?: None disclosed. ENERGY LEVEL: Medium. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: High. Weighs 100 lbs. Currently on Victor Super Premium Performance Dry food. Good with car rides?: Yes. Socialized with: *people?: No. *dogs?: No. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): Shyla May is Reactive to strangers but will eventually calm down and warm up. She is sometimes iffy of men. Loves: Playing in her kiddie/doggy pool during the summer, walks, chilling on the couch, balls, fetch, sleeping in bed with her person, being near her person, her herding ball, chuck it ball. *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: This breed is super intelligent. *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): No. *Good on a Leash?: Unknown. *Lovable?: This breed is super lovable once they claim you as their person/family. *Eager and fast learner?: This breed is super fast learners when they are being committed to and worked with. Bite History?: None disclosed. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Shyla is a very loyal and sweet dog, once she gets to know you she can be attached to your hip and you are her main person. She absolutely loves her herding ball she's had since a puppy and dog pool which we can give to you so she can keep. She acts like a lap dog sometimes and wants to be in your space occasionally but likes her personal space. She prefers to hang out outside but has to be put on a long chain/leash because of her love of seeing cars go by. She is very strong and is good at listening for commands such as sit and waiting for you to put her food down to eat. We say 'go on' when she's free to eat her food. .She likes her personal space and does not like being hugged/held or restricted. She can be aggressive because she gets claustrophobic when restrained. Nail trims can be tricky, she has done well when my mom trims her nails but cannot be held or restricted when trimming nails. If she's outside running or walking on pavement her nails naturally file down. Don't put anything like a bed, toys/treats in the crate she will resource guard these. My mom does put blankets in her crate but she does tend to tear them'. Re Homing because'|: Due to Shyla May's Resource Guarding Issues, life with the other household dogs has become increasingly stressful and has resulted in dog fights and conflicts. The Current Shepherd Parent cannot financially afford the training that Shyla May needs to work through these behaviors. Shyla May will be a great companion for the right person, she just needs someone who is committed to helping her work through her issues so that she can be the best girl that she can be. Will thrive best'|?: In a loving, calm, and quiet home with preferably Adults ONLY. Definitely NO young children, NO other dogs, and NO cats. She needs someone willing to work with her Resource Guarding, Stranger Introductions, fence jumping, and Boundary Training. Shyla May has previously jumped a 5-foot chain-link fence, so she will need either a taller secure fence or proper boundary training to keep her safe and successful. Comes with: Collar, leash, toys, kiddie pool, and herding ball. RehomingFee $150.
