Delaney Jacob is his foster and Cindy Brown is working with her. Please reach out if you have a potential adopter, and all volunteers are asked to share him! Thanks everyone! Daniel is a stunning 2-year-old, 46-pound black tri Australian Shepherd with a tail and the most soulful brown eyes you've ever seen. Daniel came to ARMA from the Charles County Animal Shelter after being picked up as a stray. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and receives heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. As we've got to know Daniel, we've slowly peeled back the layers of his personality and what we've discovered is an absolute gem. Daniel is sweet, gentle, intelligent, and calm, with not a single mean bone in his body. His tail is almost always wagging, and his favorite place is wherever his people are. This handsome boy is happiest simply being part of everyday life. He'll happily follow you around the yard while you work, enjoy spending time with his humans, and is learning that walks can be fun. Daniel is housebroken, crate trained, and remarkably quiet, though he'll politely remind you when dinner time has arrived. He loves stuffed Kongs, chew bones, lick mats, treats, and never says no to a bedtime snack. Daniel gets along well with other dogs, although he doesn't currently engage in play. As his confidence grows, that may change. Right now, it seems he simply never learned how. In true Daniel fashion, stuffed toys are less for playing with and more for use as pillows. Daniel can occasionally be startled by sudden loud noises or unexpected overhead movements. When that happens, he seeks comfort in his crate, his safe space. With calm reassurance, he recovers quickly. The progress he has made since arriving in foster care has been remarkable, and we believe his confidence will continue to blossom with patience, understanding, and love. Because he can be sensitive to unexpected sounds and activity, Daniel is looking for a home without small children where he can feel safe, comfortable, and thrive in a calmer environment with a consistent routine. Daniel knows some basic commands, including sit, stay, and come. Continued training will help improve his leash manners while also building his confidence and strengthening the bond with his future family. More than anything, Daniel wants to feel safe, secure, and loved. Give him that, and he will reward you with unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and a love that runs deep. If you're looking for a devoted best friend and constant shadow, Daniel may be the perfect match. He is currently located in Alexandria, VA. If you are an approved ARMA adopter, please reach out to the volunteer you have been working with. Not approved yet? Please apply at https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
