I am reaching out for adoption or possible rescue assistance for a male Husky/German Shepherd mix located in Bellevue, Michigan. He is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. We are seeking responsible, experienced placement or rescue support, as he is not a safe candidate for casual rehoming. Important background (full disclosure): He has a high prey drive and has killed a cat, fawns, groundhog, raccoon, chickens, birds-pretty much anything that moves. Hasn't been exposed to other dogs. Was exposed to a small dog last year and he attacked him. He is an escape artist (digging and running when loose). Needs structure, containment, and an experienced handler. He is not suitable for homes with cats, small animals, or unsecured fencing. A local shelter has declined intake due to his history. Additional details: Good with people in the home (no known human aggression). Was very sweet with my 2 year old daughter laying on him/playing with him. Has not lived safely with other small animals. Would require a secure fence, supervision, and continued training. We understand this is a difficult case and appreciate any help you can offer - whether that is intake consideration, foster placement, referrals to a working-breed rescue, or guidance on next steps. Our priority is public safety, the dog's welfare, and making a responsible decision.
