These cuties are RIKKI, a cream 4-year-old, 8.8 pound female Shih Tzu, and SMOKEY, a 2-year-old, 15.2 pound male Shih Tzu. They were surrendered to us after the death of their daddy. Sadly their mom has to move and isn't able to take them with her. RIKKI and SMOKEY are a bonded pair who absolutely adore each other. They spend much of their time playing, snuggling, and exploring side by side, often orbiting around one another wherever they go. They love attention from their people and are happiest when they can curl up nearby. They make the sweetest little noises when they're wrestling, playing, or trying to convince you it's time for extra attention or food. One of their funniest habits is begging with adorable little grumbling noises. They seem convinced that food tastes even better when it comes from the dinner table! While RIKKI and SMOKEY are very attached to each other, they have done well with both small and large dogs and are friendly with the other dogs in their foster home, enjoying joining in on group playtime and cuddle sessions. They would likely be fine with respectful children, though RIKKI can be a little mouthy when taking treats and may need gentle reminders. They have not been tested with cats, but their foster believes they would likely be curious more than anything. RIKKI and SMOKEY are fully housebroken and have not had a single accident in their foster home. They are accustomed to being let out regularly and also appear to understand potty pads. Both walk nicely on a leash, although SMOKY prefers his usual position just behind and to the left of his sister and may occasionally stop if he gets out of place. They enjoy exploring the yard and would love a securely fenced area to wander together. They will bark when visitors arrive or when something exciting is happening, but they settle down quickly once they've had a chance to investigate. At bedtime, RIKKI and SMOKEY would much rather be snuggled up in bed with their people, though they are also happy to sleep in a dog bed if needed. RIKKI and SMOKEY are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, have had ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shots, and are microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
