Jax is a very smart and loyal guy. He is six years old, born October 19th, 2019. He loves and protects his humans. Jax knows many commands, such as sit, stay, lie down, shake, high-five, roll over, and spin. His humans are mom, dad, a 10 year old girl and 14 year old boy. Jax does not do well will small children, he tries to herd them and will nip them. He is VERY protective of his family, he does well with women but does not like unfamiliar men. Jax loves to go on big walks and hikes and does well running with his human and even loves running on a leash alongside a bike ride. He is an amazing dog and we are devastated to rehome him but because we have many families with small children who visit we are worried about him biting a child. It's not fair to have him kept away. I believe that his behavior will improve with more time and training, which is what he deserves, but we do not have the time to work with him. Jax came from a cattle ranch as a small puppy; his parents are cattle herders, so the herding gene is very strong. Jax currently lives with a 5-year-old Old English Bulldog named Lola and 17 chickens. Jax and the other dog play well together, but they are both alphas so they also fight often. The chickens are kept in a separated yard because Jax would love to 'play' with them if he had the opportunity. We do not have cats so I am not sure how he would do. Jax rarely barks. He was crate-trained as a puppy but now sleeps free-range in the house with access to a dog door. He is not allowed on the furniture but will go on the sofa when he thinks no one is watching. Jax enjoys car rides but does get nervous in the car. He will drool the whole time. He does not dig holes in the yard, but if you take him to the beach, he loves to dig in the sand. Full disclosure: A few months ago, a neighborhood kid came by our house while we were not at home and reached over our fence, and Jax bit his hand. The ideal home for Jax would be an active outdoorsy adult-only household with no other pets. I have lots more photos, if you would like more or have other questions, please reach out.
