GEORGIA - A BRILLIANT YOUNG ADVENTURER WITH A BIG PERSONALITY AND AN EVEN BIGGER HEART Location: Upland Animal Shelter, Upland, CA Animal ID: IEPA-A-18898 Breed: Belgian Malinois / Husky Sex: Female, Spayed Weight: 39 lbs Age: 11 months Intake Date: April 13, 2026 Meet Georgia, a beautiful young dog with the intelligence and drive of a Belgian Malinois, a touch of Husky personality, and enough affection to make sure you never forget that underneath all that athleticism is one very loving girl. At just 11 months old, Georgia is still very much an adolescent. She approaches life with enthusiasm. She is curious, playful, expressive, smart, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever her humans are doing. PLAY IS GEORGIA'S LOVE LANGUAGE Georgia loves toys and fetch, and she is happiest when both her body and her brilliant young mind have something to do. A game of fetch? Absolutely. A training session with treats? She's ready. An outdoor adventure? Where's the leash? And when the activity is over, don't be surprised if this athletic little Malinois mix suddenly decides she's a lap dog. Georgia loves being close to her people. She may have the brain of a working dog, but she also believes cuddling is serious work. SMART, CURIOUS AND EAGER TO LEARN Georgia already knows 'sit,' walks well on leash, and is highly treat motivated, giving her a wonderful foundation for continued training. Like many intelligent adolescent working-breed dogs, Georgia is still learning how to manage all that enthusiasm. She can be jumpy and mouthy, and sometimes her teenage brain gets ahead of her manners. Georgia doesn't need someone expecting a perfectly finished dog. She needs someone who sees her potential. With structure, consistency, positive training, exercise, and appropriate outlets for her energy and intelligence, Georgia has everything she needs to grow into an extraordinary adult companion. ABOUT OTHER ANIMALS Georgia is dog selective, so introductions to other dogs should be thoughtful and appropriate. She has not been tested with cats, and because she has a high prey drive, a home with cats or small animals may not be the best match. GEORGIA'S DREAM HOME Georgia would thrive with an active person or family who genuinely enjoys doing things with their dog. Experience with Belgian Malinois or other intelligent, high-energy working breeds is preferred. Because Georgia is still young, enthusiastic, jumpy, and mouthy, she is recommended for a home with children ages 13 and older. Her ideal person will understand that exercise is only part of the equation. Georgia also needs training, mental enrichment, structure, patience, and plenty of positive interaction. In return, you'll get a dog who will make you laugh, keep you moving, challenge your brain, join your adventures, celebrate your arrival home, and then try to climb into your lap as though 39 pounds of Malinois/Husky were designed specifically to fit there. GEORGIA AT A GLANCE Affectionate and people-oriented Loves fetch and toys Smart and eager to learn Treat motivated Walks well on leash Knows 'sit' Social butterfly with people Lap dog Chatty and expressive Best suited for an active home Children 13+ Dog selective Not tested with cats High prey drive Breed experience preferred Georgia has spent much of her puppyhood growing up in a shelter. What she needs now isn't another kennel or another temporary chapter. She needs her person. Someone who will give that remarkable young brain a purpose, that energetic body adventures, and that affectionate heart somewhere it can finally belong. Georgia is still becoming the dog she will one day be. Maybe she's just waiting for the person who will help her get there. Georgia is available at Upland Animal Shelter in Upland, California.
