About Starzie

Meet Starzie (renamed from 'Pearl'), a sweet almost 3 year old with a lot of personality. She was adopted by her current owner a year ago, and has spent this last year chewing bones, wrestling and playing with her older doggie friend, and racing through their little house when the zoomies strike. In the first week home Starzie protected her food from her friend, but learned through his patience and always having food every day,that she doesn't have to be afraid there won't be any left for her-now she doesn't care if he eats from her bowl. She is super smart, and likes to show off when she needs to potty by going to the door and letting you know she needs to go out. She will sit pretty and stay, but really loves it best when she is getting a good belly rub, cuddling on a lap, or zooming around the yard. She has been a little naughty a couple times, but only when she gets bored or lonely. I can walk away from food in the kitchen with no problems. She has met our outside cat, and has chased him, but when she gets close to him she doesn't hurt him, she just licks his face. Starzie doesn't know it yet, but her owners life has changed a lot, and they aren't able to keep her anymore. We are looking for a loving home where she can run and play, and get the belly rubs and Nylabones she loves so much. She has been crate trained and is up to date on her vaccinations and medications. She follows simple commands, and was starting to learn to leash train before her owner was no longer able to walk her. She is currently let out on a lead to avoid the neighbor's dogs (the other dogs are unfriendly!), but she doesn't run away if she is outside without a leash. She's too interested in what we're doing! She definitely needs to exercise, as she 68 lbs and starting to get chunky. If you're looking for a cheerful friend who will bring laughter and energy into your home, Starzie is the perfect match. Adoption fee can be waived, if you are willing to provide pictures of what Starzie's new home would look like and assure us that she is going to a loving home.
