About Nala Blue

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

At just 8 months old, this happy-go-lucky girl is everything you could want in a family companion. She's a little bit of every breed wrapped up into one lovable package-full of personality, affection, and puppy charm! This smart young lady already knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, stay, lay down, give me paw, come on, and even 'hey' (which she understands as 'stop that'). She is eager to interact with people and loves learning new things, making her a wonderful candidate for continued training. Her personality is best described as goofy, playful, and affectionate. While toys didn't capture much of her attention during evaluations, she absolutely loves playing with people and being involved in whatever is happening around her. She's curious about the world and enjoys exploring new experiences with her humans by her side. She passed her handling assessment with flying colors, remaining relaxed and comfortable with all-over body handling. She also showed excellent manners around food and high-value items. She allowed hands in her food bowl while eating without concern and willingly allowed us to take a rawhide chew from her. This social butterfly was playful and appropriate with every dog she met during shelter testing. She also showed promising behavior around cats. During her cat assessment, our office cat, Nala Blue, immediately backed away nervously, but this sweet girl remained calm and showed no defensive or aggressive behavior. Her previous owners reported that she lived successfully with a cat, often playfully chasing it around the house but never causing harm. Her previous family adopted her when she was just 2 months old. Unfortunately, they had to surrender her when they moved and were unable to take her with them. They shared that she lived with a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old child and was always exceptionally gentle with both, even when they were near her food bowl. Like many young dogs, she has a few quirks that make her even more endearing. Loud noises can startle her, and she's particularly wary of rolling objects that make noise, such as bicycles, RC cars, Power Wheels, and certain children's toys. With patience, positive experiences, and confidence-building, she will likely continue to grow more comfortable around these things. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, family-friendly dog who loves people, enjoys making new friends, and is always ready to brighten your day with her goofy personality, this wonderful girl may be the perfect match for you.
