We have a five-year-old boxer who we rescued when she was a little under two years old. We were advised that she was returned to the shelter that we got her from at least a couple times, but no one had any reasons why. We had one dog already and they developed a really good relationship and got along. We did try at one point to rescue an other dog, but unfortunately, Sadie got jealous and bit her. We didn't want to cause any anxiety to our dogs or the new dog, so we asked that the owner take her back. Sadie is a very attention starved and jealous dog, but she's not vicious or out of control. We have gotten another dog since then, but we do watch the two of them together because we know Sadie understands her place when she's not the first dog in a house, but struggles with any else being added. A week ago, when all of the dogs were outside and then let in, Sadie became overly jealous, trying to get to my 16-year-old son, pushing the other dogs out of the way, so she for the first time, attacked our older dog. My son and I worked to get them apart and were hurt in the process. We know that Sadie did not hurt us on purpose, but out of confusion and chaos. Both the dogs are healing, but we really feel it's best that Sadie is able to have a home where she is the only dog and given a lot of attention along with good instruction. We were never able to afford professional behavioral training with her, but have been able to get her to listen to basic commands when she's able to focus because she is so high strung. I would say she is good with adults and kids, but not little kids because of her hyper bullying nature. This has been a hard decision and if we had another option to be able to keep her, then we would, but we think it's best for everybody that she has a loving home where she's given the attention and space that she needs. She is a very loving dog.
