About Adonis

My family took on Adonis from an elderly lady who found him, and wanted to rescue him but knew he would be too active. We agreed to get him and at least find a home for him but we ended up keeping him. Now, we cannot provide the environment he needs and his basic needs are a strain. He is a very protective dog about his family, playful, and has a lot of hunting instincts. He is submissive and can be easily trained with food if nothing else. He has the qualities of a 'vocal' catahoula so he is comically expressive - often letting you know by movement or a whine, what he wants (which is usually food or a bed). He was raised with a 1 year old Anatolian Shepherd at the time we got him and much of his training came through him following the other dog's obedience when we gave commands. As a protector, he displays loyalty and has shown he is not afraid of the size any animal if needed to protect his family. If we could keep him, we definitely would but he needs more space and action and to be used for his fully potential. He does have hunting instincts (though we've never used them). He is strong for his size and very agile - like jumping fences agile. We would love a place where he is available to have the space and room to exercise and have fun.
