About Montu

Montu is an incredibly affection and sweet Mal who loves his people and enjoys being close. He will curl up next to you in bed for incredible snuggles and wants to always keep you in sight. He is very energetic and has learned to respond to sit and lay down. Mal breeds are high energy and require a lot of stimulation and structure. Unfortunately we have not been able to give the structure and consistency needed for this particular breed despite our best efforts. He loves to play with other dogs (we have an 3 year old boxer too) and is great with people including children (we have an 11 year old). We have two cats in the house that he has never gotten aggressive with though he is curious and will try to play with them and chase if they run. More recently he did chew some carpet and one of our pillows but incidents have generally remained minimal when the routine is kept and he has chew toys. He does have an intermittent issue with eating poop, which includes sometimes if he goes in his crate. He does not cue well with noise to go outside in between potty breaks other than going towards the door; but does know to go outside. Accidents in the house outside of the crate became minimal after the first 1-2 months. He is truly a sweet and special dog and just needs a home where he can run, play, and have the structure and attention this working dog breed needs. It breaks our heart to rehome him, especially with how sweet he is. You can meet him first and play with him before adopting.
