Duke wasn't the kind of dog who ever expected his world to change. He was loyal, steady, and happiest when lying at his owner's feet, soaking up every gentle pat and quiet moment they shared. But when his owner became very sick, everything shifted. The house grew quieter. The routines faded. And one day, Duke was brought to the shelter - not because he wasn't loved, but because his person could no longer care for him. At first, Duke didn't understand. But the staff quickly learned something important about Duke: beneath his worried eyes is a heart overflowing with love. He leans into every gentle touch. He wags his tail when someone speaks softly. He watches people with a hopeful spark, as if he's searching for the next person he'll give his whole heart to.
