About EDDIE

Adoption Fee: $500
Dachshund
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

EDDIE is a handsome 18-month-old red Dachshund who weighs 13.2 pounds. He came to us as an owner surrender when his owner developed health issues. With a little patience and love, this good boy will make a wonderful companion. EDDIE is a sweet boy who took a little time to adjust to his new surroundings, but he is gaining confidence every day. He can still be a bit nervous about being picked up, and one of his funniest quirks is that instead of walking to you when he wants to be held, he launches himself at your arms and expects you to catch him. Once he feels comfortable, his personality really starts to shine! Because EDDIE can be a little timid, he would do best in a home with another small, friendly dog to help build his confidence. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and is starting to interact with them more. He has also recently discovered toys and loves carrying them around the house and tossing them for himself. We do not know how he would be with cats. Because of his timid nature, an adult only home or one with older kids would be best. EDDIE quickly learned how to use a dog door and is doing very well with house training. He knows how to walk on a leash and enjoys exploring, but unfamiliar situations can still make him a little cautious. A securely fenced yard is required so he can safely continue building confidence while enjoying time outdoors. Because he can be easily startled, we want to ensure he has a safe environment where there is no risk of slipping away. He is good on car rides, usually settling in and falling asleep. At night, EDDIE sleeps in the big bed with his people. While he is not quite a snuggle bug yet, we believe that will come as he settles into his forever home and learns to trust. EDDIE is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
