Stone, a 5-year-old male found abandoned in an Orange County park, is recovering in a Mission Viejo foster home. Though initially underweight at 41 lbs and suffering from skin issues, his sweet temperament is shining through. Stone saw our Vet today and is resolving his flea allergy issue on his skin with antibiotics and a good monthly internal flea treatment. Stone's Journey So Far after a Desperate Beginning: Stone was found terrified, shaking, and suffering from hair loss and flaking skin in a local park. Weighing just 41 lbs-far below his ideal (65)-(70) lbs-he was listed as 'rescue only' with a guarded prognosis in the local shelter. The Sweetest Escape: A compassionate foster couldn't leave him behind, swooping in to pick him up even on a Sunday! The pure relief he felt in the back seat was more than obvious! Life in Foster Care: After gently accepting treats, Stone slept for 8 hours straight after willingly crawling into the soft bed in the crate the foster provided. In the morning he then enjoyed a hearty meal and a neighborhood walk, where he walked perfectly on a leash and showed zero interest in passing dogs. Why Stone Needs You: Stone is slowly learning how to trust again. As his skin clears up and he puts on some healthy weight, he is going to be an absolutely gorgeous boy. He is a true diamond in the rough looking for a loving companion who will give him a safe, permanent home. Don't let this beautiful boy get away! Stones foster has this to say: Stonewall is a wonderful dog. After a few days of rest and good food, his personality is shining through. He loves toys and will play fetch like a champ. He knows the command 'Sit' and we're working on 'Down.' He quickly learned to use the dog door and there have been no accidents. I feel confident to say he is house-trained. He has started to cuddle and putting on shoes seems to be a signal to give kisses. He's becoming a proper Velcro dog and had to be given his own yoga mat before he let me finish my practice. He walks well on the leash and wants to meet most people. He's a little nervous when passing dogs his size but I haven't seen any aggression. He's putting on weight and his fur is filling in nicely. He's going to be a complete stunner. I cannot understand how such a fantastic dog ended up alone but it fills me with pride to help Stonewall find his forever home. https://photos.app.goo.gl/6WTEnwX3h4nnZoeP7
