Introducing Maybelle'|a spayed female, black lab/heeler mix, approximately 4-5 years old, and weighing 50 lbs. She showed up at my brother's property in 2022. He took her in, had her spayed in January 2023 and she was with him until he passed away in January 2024. The tenants that were living on one of his rental properties took her in and said that they would keep her, but now they are moving and can't take her with them. We have had her since June 1, and she's been to the groomers where she was very well behaved during her bath, nail trim, and blowout, and she was also good around the other dogs in the shop. She has also been to the vet to make sure she is up to date on all her vaccines. All her blood work and lab values looked great, no parasites and no heartworm or tickborne diseases. She is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm medication. The vet said her weight is perfect at about 50 pounds (50.4). She doesn't have a lot of excess fat on her, has good shape, and muscular legs. She was also very well behaved at the vet's office and went with them on leash with no issues. She likes to ride in the car and does very well'|sitting quietly in the rear seat. She walks well on a leash and enjoys walks in the morning and evening. We found it's best to walk her with a harness because she has pulled out of her collar twice. She will come back if she does run off. She may bark if she sees another dog on our walks but doesn't show any aggression. We see ducks and geese on our walks, and she does not pay attention to them at all. She is interested in cats, and I've seen her chase one, but more in a curious playful way. She is good with other dogs. The tenants that kept her for two years had a slightly smaller dog, a pittie mix. The two dogs ate next to each other with no issues and played well together. The tenants also had 3 kids aged 11, 13 and 16. Maybelle has been around them on the property for 4 years and has been OK with them all that time. She was house broken at her previous home and has not had any accidents in our house either. She does bark when she hears loud noises outside, or if someone knocks on the door. She does not chew on anything or try to 'counter surf', but I think she will sniff or eat any unattended food that is nose height. She doesn't beg for food when you're eating and just watches you as you move around the house but isn't always right there on your heels. She doesn't mind the vacuum cleaner either. She is a very relaxed and laid-back dog. At night, Maybelle sleeps on a large pet bed in the living room. There is also a chair that we allow her to get on and sometimes she will nap there. We've left her alone in the house with no issues and no accidents. She has a new dolly which she will play with, throwing it up in the air and chasing it.
