Due to my medical condition, I can no longer attend to Shelby's needs. He needs to be exercised on a regular basis which I can no longer do. Adopted from Lake County Shelter in February 2020 as a stray with estimated age of 1 1/2 years old. Listed as a Boxer/Pit Bull mix. Weighs in at about 60 lbs. and has no known medical issues since the adoption and has never been to a Vet other than annual checkups. Has never had an accident or caused any damage in the house. Shelby is very intelligent and obeys most commands such as sit, stay etc. He does have a mind of his own and will push your limits. He is very excitable when meeting new people but calms down after a few minutes. Pulls a lot when walking during the first minutes then becomes more manageable. Has a dislike for delivery and service individuals (Barks). Difficult to handle when going to Vet or grooming and needs to be sedated. Does not like other dogs especially small ones. Is very protective of home and owner. Thinks he is a lap dog. Needs a lot of attention. Does not share his toys or play catch (fetch). Shelby has never bitten anyone but can show a little aggressiveness when he thinks he is threatened. Mr. Shelby can go for lengthy times before relieving himself. He does not like to be scolded but knows when he has done a wrong. Loud noises bother him (thunder). To be honest he is a little spoiled. He loves to go for drives as a front seat passenger. Don't know how he would act with small children or other pets as his years with me have been in an age restricted community.
