About Pesto

Meet Pesto! Pesto is a 1-year-old Chihuahua with a huge personality packed into a tiny body. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, this little guy delivers. His two greatest loves in life are food and butt scratches-and honestly, we're not sure which one wins. Mention a snack or start scratching his backside and you'll instantly become his favorite person. Pesto is a funny, entertaining pup who has settled beautifully into foster care. He quickly mastered the dog door and is doing great with potty training. He loves going for walks, enjoys playing with toys, and has plenty of energy for adventures, but he also knows how to relax and settle down when it's time to unwind. He's very social and affectionate with his people, though he can still be a little nervous about being picked up from a standing position. Once he knows you're safe, his sweet and goofy personality shines through. Pesto adored the baby in his foster home, so he appears to be a great fit for families with children. Pesto gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has made lots of canine friends, but he isn't dependent on having another dog in the home. He's confident enough to entertain himself and is happy chewing on a bone or tossing around a sturdy toy. (Just don't leave too many soft plush toys unattended-he considers them a challenge!) He's comfortable in a crate and will even choose to hang out there sometimes, but prospective adopters should know that Pesto firmly believes couches and beds are essential amenities.
