Meet Koga! Location: Philadelphia, PA DOB: 7/20/2019 Koga is a partially deaf, gentle-hearted sweetheart looking for a calm and loving forever home. This handsome boy has a soft, cuddly personality and a heart full of love. While he can be a little timid when meeting new people, once he feels comfortable, he becomes a devoted companion who simply wants to be near his people. Koga's favorite place is right beside you on the couch, resting his head in your lap while soaking up all the pets and affection you can give. Koga is affectionate, playful, and enjoys calm companionship. He does well with new people, older children, and other animals. He has met both male and female dogs and has been polite and relaxed around them, though he seems more interested in exploring or getting attention from people than engaging in rough play. He has also met a cat and showed calm curiosity while maintaining a respectful distance. Koga previously lived with small children without any reported issues, but his mellow nature would likely make him happiest in a home with older kids or teens. He enjoys leisurely walks and exploring the outdoors, but loud noises and busy streets can make him anxious. Because of this, Koga would thrive in a quieter suburban environment rather than a bustling city setting. After a nice walk, he's perfectly content to spend the rest of the day relaxing with his family. Koga is house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides well in the car, and handles baths and even blow-drying like a champion. He knows commands such as 'sit' and 'stay,' although excitement can occasionally get the better of him. He's very food-motivated and tends to eat quickly, so adopters should monitor mealtimes if there are other pets in the home. Koga currently has a recurring granuloma sore on his lower front leg that is still healing. He wears a cone to prevent licking while it continues to recover. More than anything, Koga loves human companionship. He forms deep bonds with his people, follows them from room to room, and is happiest simply being part of everyday life. While he does fine when left alone, he truly thrives in a home where someone is around for much of the day.
