MEET MYSTY: A QUIET HEART LOOKING FOR HER PERSON. Some dogs are adventurers. Some want to be the life of the party. Misty is not one of those dogs. Misty is a beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd mix with a gentle soul and a tender heart that longs for one thing above all else: her person. When she first arrived at the shelter, Misty was very shut down and unsure of the world around her. Since then, she has slowly begun to blossom, revealing the sweet, affectionate dog hidden beneath her shy exterior. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly devoted and loving-often happiest curled up beside you, convinced that her nearly 50-pound body belongs in your lap. She doesn't want excitement. She wants closeness. Misty forms deep attachments to her people and thrives on quiet companionship. Her perfect day would probably involve relaxing on the couch, watching television, reading a book together, or simply enjoying the comfort of being near the person she loves most. Because of her sensitive nature, Misty is looking for a very specific kind of home: A calm, quiet household. Ideally a single adult or a quiet adult couple. A low-stress environment with predictable routines. Patient adopters willing to let her build trust at her own pace. While Misty gets along with other dogs, experience has shown that she is happiest when she doesn't have to compete for her person's attention. She becomes deeply bonded to her humans, and living with other dogs has not been the best fit for her long-term happiness. Misty can become overwhelmed in busy environments and may hide when there is too much activity around her. She is also hesitant about leaving the house and feels safest in familiar surroundings, so she will need adopters who understand that confidence grows slowly and that small victories matter. She is affectionate, submissive, treat-motivated, and eager to love. She simply needs someone willing to meet her where she is. Misty isn't looking for an adventure partner. She's looking for home.
