It has been a long time since we've met a pup quite as scared as Willie, but beneath that fear is a deeply sweet, sensitive dog who desperately wants to connect. He isn't a dog who will jump all over you the second you meet him; instead, Willie is a listener, a thinker, and a gentle soul who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. He is already neutered, fully up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped, meaning he is completely ready to head home when you are. Volunteer Notes & First Impressions 'Despite how frightened Willie was, he was incredibly brave. He allowed me right into his kennel for a chat. After a short time of just talking softly, I was able to get a bit closer and offer some gentle pets where he could see my hand. Once he realized I was there to comfort him, he let me leash him up and walked right out without much prompting. He didn't seem bothered by the other dogs on the way out-instead, he kept looking up at me for reassurance. The very first thing he did in the play yard was potty, which strongly tells us he is house-trained or crate-trained! But the best part? It didn't take long for him to completely melt. He went from sitting next to me, to lying down, to curling up right in the crook of my legs, gently nudging my hand for more love whenever I stopped petting him. We cannot wait to watch this beautiful boy fully come out of his shell.' Willie's Ideal Home Willie is looking for a quiet, patient home where he can decompress at his own pace.
