About Oso

Adoption Fee: $400
Border Collie / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Oso! If you are looking for an intelligent, active dog with a sweet side, Oso is the one! Found as a stray and suffering in shelter conditions, like many border collies do, he got a second chance and is looking for his forever home. This guy learns tricks within minutes, loves routine, flipping through the air, fetch, and would excel at any dog sports or simply space where he can run and fetch his little heart out. Oso has had a rough start in life and has learned to redirect his hyperactivity in the 6 months of fostering, but needs someone familiar with herding breeds and can work with him on overstimulation. He is quiet in the backyard, and is making good strides with leash manners. Oso gets too overstimulated with other dogs and would prefer to be the only pet. With his foster having their own dogs, he is coping amazingly well with being crated much of the day and his seperation anxiety is mostly gone, but he needs his people to find him! Oso loves: - Fetch- Routine- Snuggles- Flipping/jumping- Learning new things- Security and stability Oso is working on:- Leash walking. Oso is very hypervigilant on walks but making improvement every day. He loves coming home to his yard the most- Seperation anxiety. He is crated for several hours every day now with minimal barking, except when he hears the other dogs. He needs some reinforcement on the crate as he is too crafty at escaping for his own good.- mouthyness. As he gets excited he can be mouthy and is not recommended with younger kids, but does fine with older, dog savvy kids (12 and up). He corrects just fine and needs positive reinforcement as he is a sensitive soul underneath all that energy. Poor Oso has been overlooked for months now and he is the sweetest little guy. A quiet household with a yard or acreage willing to help him adapt to a routine would be his ideal. He is the most cooperative and intelligent dog his foster has ever had and they want to see him live his best life. He bonds very deeply to his people - could that be you?%A0 For more information, please reach out to https://www.hdrescueoregon.com/, or see some recent Facebook posts about him: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17BSuLoVFz/, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1G9SHXDK5f/
