About Bella

Pit Bull / American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hello, I am reaching out to see whether your organization may be able to assist with placement, foster support, or surrender evaluation for my dog, Bella. Bella is a 5-year-old, 55-pound spayed pit mix who has been with us for approximately four years. She is current on vaccinations, and I can provide complete veterinary and behavioral records. The reason we are seeking placement is ongoing conflict and aggression between Bella and our other dog within our household. Despite years of management, separation, professional training, consultation with a veterinary behaviorist, medication trials, and dietary changes, the situation has not improved sufficiently to be safe. There have been multiple fights between the dogs, including incidents that required veterinary treatment for our other dog. An important point is that Bella's behavioral issues appear to be specific to her relationship with our resident dog and the home environment. She has not shown aggression toward people and has not displayed concerning behavior toward other dogs during walks, at dog parks, while boarding, or in doggy daycare settings. Because of this, we are hesitant to label her as generally dog-aggressive. However, we do not believe she can safely remain in our current multi-dog household. In our experience, Bella is best described as anxious and shy rather than generally aggressive. When she is not in conflict with our other dog, she is affectionate, loyal, and much more relaxed. SVACA previously described her as shy and anxious, which aligns with our experience. Based on her behavior around children, we also believe an adult-only home would be the safest and most appropriate placement. We are located in Mountain View, California, and are willing to transport Bella for evaluation, foster placement, or transfer if an appropriate opportunity exists. I will be departing for an extended work assignment beginning June 5, 2026, so I would be extremely grateful for any response before that date if possible. If your organization is not local, I am willing to coordinate transportation and can meet rescues or fosters along my travel route. We have exhausted our ability to safely manage this situation long-term and are urgently seeking an appropriate placement. I can provide detailed behavioral history, veterinary records, photographs, and any additional information needed to support an assessment. I understand rescues and shelters are operating with limited space and resources, and I sincerely appreciate your time in reviewing this request. If your organization is unable to assist directly, I would be grateful for any referrals to other rescues, foster networks, or placement resources that may be appropriate for a dog with Bella's needs. Thank you for your consideration and for the work you do on behalf of dogs in need. Respectfully, Danny
