She is the definition of a Velcro dog and simply wants to love and be loved. Katy enjoys playing with other dogs, does wonderfully with children, and walks beautifully on a leash. Her gentle nature and loving personality make her the kind of companion who quickly becomes part of the family. Sadly, Katy's story didn't always look so bright. After her owners believed she had mange and kept her crated and lacking the care she needed, she was surrendered to a high-kill shelter and found herself on the euthanasia list with her future hanging in the balance. Once she was pulled into rescue, it quickly became clear that Katy didn't have mange at all. She had been stress scratching, likely from the difficult circumstances she had endured. With proper care, flea and tick prevention, and a safe place to decompress, her beautiful coat has started growing back and her true personality has blossomed. Through everything she's been through, Katy has never stopped loving people. She has never stopped wagging her tail. She has never stopped hoping someone would choose her. Now healthy, happy, and ready for a fresh start, Katy is searching for a family that will give her what she's always deserved: love, security, and a place to call home.
