We will be putting Teddie asleep on Friday, June 5th because I can no longer keep him in our home due to the fact he does not like my husband and will attack him. We adopted Teddy from North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue on August 11, 2024. His previous owner had him since a puppy. His birthday is October 12 2017. Teddy is a golden doodle. His dad was a poodle and his mother was a golden through American kennel club Teddy is a 75 to 80 Cream in color Teddy is up-to-date on all his shots. He is neutered. He is micro chipped with Home Again, Chip number 985112009931514. Teddy is a handsome boy. Loves to play with toys and chasing balls. Very intelligent. Very observant. But he is like a teenage and needs constant guidance. He has been trained. He walks well on a leash. If he pulls gentle tug lease and he will stop pulling. He will heal His commands: Use a Firm Tone, otherwise he will act like a teenager and try to get by with his desire. 'Sit' 'Place' point to area which means for him to lay down Come Stop No Wait Down He listens very well. He loves to be rubbed, Face, ears, back scratches and will roll over for tummy rubs. He loves Cheese and chicken feed by hand or in his bowl. Teddie has been around adult kids at our home but not young kids. However, his previous owner said he had no problem with her grandchildren. We have not tested small children other than a quick rub to say hi. We have no small children in our family at this time but a grandchild on the way. Teddies loves our adult children and friends. We never had an issue with him in large crowds when we had parties. He loves people. He does not get on furniture. He does roam our home and has never damaged anything. Teddies Bad Traits: 1. Don't touch Teddie while sleeping. He gets startled very easy and will jump up and use his BIG DOG BARK, which is very scary. 2. He does not like his back legs to touched. I think it is from pain of sleeping in his previous owner's small crate. I have purchased a larger crate for him for future use. He will eat and drink in crate with no problem per previous owner. However, we did not keep him in a crate. He has free roam of our home since we have had him. Previous owner kept him in crate 10-12 hours a day. 3. He does have resource guarding of his food so we put his bowl down and walk away. We don't take anything from him. He will again use his 'Big Dog Bark.' 4. Don't rush Teddie, let him come to you or call him to you. He will always come. 5. Teddie does not like other dogs. I have only tested him with one dog on two occasions, and he did attack the other dog. However, he does whine when he sees some dogs like he wishes to play. But I will not risk it. Teddie and I love each other; we eat cheese and crackers on my porch. We play with balls and his fluffy toys. We love to take long walks together. However, he does not like my husband and has not from day one. He does like other men. My husband has not ever tried with Teddie to get acceptance. I have tried for the Year and 9 months to make Teddie feel loved and hoped he and my husband would settle but my husband makes no effort. He fears Teddie after many big dog barks. The reason I wish to surrender Teddie. I was asleep in my room, and my husband turned the corner and startled Teddie and Teddie bit my husband's hand and his back area (2 bites) no stitches and I did ask my husband to go to urgent care the next day to ensure no infections) This incident happened this past Sunday, May 24, 2026. Therefore, I cannot keep Teddie any longer. I have tried to rehome him, but everyone seems to be scared to risk it or they have other dogs and do not wish to risk the interaction. Teddie is too good of a boy to be put down which is my last resort, but I am running out of options. He needs a loving family. I'm guessing no other dogs in the home. And this person needs to have strong parenting skills and will following the rules of Teddie: 1. Don't take my food or water when I am eating or drinking 2. Don't touch my back end. I don't like it. 3. Don't rush or surprise me 4. Don't wake me up because it startles me and I use my BIG DOG Bark which is scary
