Hello, I have a 14 month old heeler cross that I have to find another home for asap. She is a wonderful, sweet, loving dog that had a rough time in Mexico before she was rescued. My neighbors have reported me to Animal Control for a dog fight she got in- no skin was broken, no injuries but she is reactive to other dogs on leash. Off leash, she is absolutely fine with other dogs and very submissive. She has 3 dog friends she plays with on a regular basis. She is extremely well trained in obedience- has been in training for 7 months and knows all commands and does them willingly. Walks on leash without pulling. She is very smart. I have started her in reactive dog training with No Bad Dogs Tom Davis and she is doing well. I am a senior person who did not socialize her well because I am not a social person. I am a hiker and I cannot hike with her because her worst reactivity occurs when she can't see the dog coming from a long distance so around corners on hikes. Please help. I have contacted every rescue and shelter in the King and Pierce county area and NO ONE will take her. The last place I took her said she would be euthanized within 3 hours and I couldn't leave her there. She does have a bite history. She bit one dog that was on leash- the bite was not bad at all and that owner told me that her dog is very reactive. She also bit a person who stuck their hand in my car but it was a soft bite that did not break skin. She used to be reactive in the car when she would see dogs on leash but she is pretty much over that by me giving her treats when she first sees the dogs. Mango is a lovely dog that just needs the right home.
