Skai is a beautiful 2-year-old Great Pyrenees located in Tulare, California, who is looking for a forever home after being rescued from a shelter. Her foster originally intended to help her temporarily, but after several months of searching, Skai is still waiting for her perfect match. Without a placement, she may have to return to the shelter, and we'd love to find her a home before that happens. At around 60 pounds, Skai is a gentle, affectionate girl with a calm and easygoing personality. She absolutely loves people, including men, women, and children, and has a soft, sweet nature that makes her a joy to be around. She spends most of her day relaxing near her people and is happiest simply being part of the family. Skai is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and knows basic commands like sit and shake. She enjoys her daily trips to the dog park and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. While she hasn't been tested with cats, she has shown no signs of having a strong prey drive. She is generally very quiet, only occasionally barking if she cannot clearly see someone's face. One of Skai's most endearing traits is how she asks for attention. When she wants pets, she'll gently throw her paw at you over and over until you give in and love on her. She's a relaxed girl who enjoys treats, companionship, and lounging nearby. She'll play when she's excited but is much more interested in spending time with her people than chasing a ball. Skai does have a few quirks. She's not a fan of vacuums, brooms, or grooming, and she has shown some mild food guarding in the past, though her foster has worked with her and it has improved significantly. She is not a working livestock guardian and would much rather be a family companion than spend her days guarding property. Her ideal home is one where she can continue being a beloved indoor dog, surrounded by people who appreciate her calm, loving nature.
