About Bella

Bella is a 1-year-old, 6-pound Shih Tzu/Maltese mix seeking a medically experienced foster or adoptive home. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, cuddly, and loves being close to her people. Bella would thrive in a calm home without very young children and with someone able to manage ongoing medical care and follow-up. Bella was born with a congenital portosystemic liver shunt and underwent corrective liver shunt surgery and spay surgery 6 weeks ago. Her surgeon believes early intervention gives her the best chance at a good long-term outcome, though she may remain predisposed to chronic liver disease. She is recovering well overall, but scans also showed kidney/bladder stones likely related to her liver condition, which are currently being monitored. We will provide all supplies, food, medications, and full medical records. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family. Bella is deeply loved, and we are simply trying to find the right long-term home for her needs.
