This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. Meet Honey %90%BE - she's 5.5 years old, a mix of English Mastiff/Bull Mastiff and German Shepherd. Recently, we experienced a heartbreaking and unexpected incident between Honey and our Chihuahua mix, Stella. Sadly, Stella did not survive. Which has led us to the difficult decision to rehome Honey. Honey has never shown aggression toward people other than barking at strangers outside or someone at the door. She has not shown aggression toward other animals beyond normal behaviors(playing) until now. After speaking with our vet, we believe this may have been due to having multiple female dogs in the home and possible food/resource guarding. We are trying to find her an appropriate home with someone who can give her the life she deserves, because she truly is a loving and amazing dog. About Honey: 'ۢ House trained & crate trained 'ۢ Spayed 'ۢ Very smart she knows several commands/tricks 'ۢ Loyal, loving, and enjoys exploring(hiking is her favorite) 'ۢ Approx. 110-120 lbs(had lost weight due to keeping her separated and becoming depressed we are trying to get her weight back on) 'ۢ She can have a sensitive stomach so she requires proper food to keep her healthy(we feed her purina pro plan large breed and she does very well on it) Ideal Home: 'ۢ No other pets 'ۢ Preferably no young children (older, respectful children only. While we do have young children in our home our children were taught very early on how to respect and treat our dogs properly) 'ۢ A family that understands boundaries and safe interactions with other dogs dogs 'ۢ A fenced yard is strongly preferred for the safety of other possible wondering animals unless you are committed to walking her so she can get exercise/use the potty(she does recall and listen very well. She's never willingly escaped just followed us out of our fence and goes right back in) If we didn't have another small dog and 6 small neighboring dogs that we share a fence with we would feel comfortable keeping. This decision is not easy. We are trying everything we can to give Honey a chance to live out the rest of her life in a home where she isn't confined. If you or someone you know may be the right fit please reach out. We just want the best possible outcome for her.
