Vanilla Horchata is a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier and Lab mix with one bright blue eye and one brown eye. The first thing most people notice is her unique eyes, and the second is how excited she is to meet them. She is playful, affectionate, curious, and loves being involved in whatever is going on around her. Vanilla has a lot of energy and enjoys running, jumping, playing, and doing zoomies throughout the day. She loves walks, chew toys, attention, and being close to her people. She does best with regular exercise and activity, and settles down nicely once she has had a chance to burn off some energy. She can be timid at first, especially around sudden noises, fast movement, or unfamiliar situations. Once she feels comfortable, she becomes very affectionate, playful, and eager to be included. She loves kids, does well with cats, and can live with other dogs with patient introductions. Vanilla knows basic commands including sit, wait, lay down, off, go to bed, easy, and calm. She is house trained, crate trained, and usually lets you know when she needs to go outside by whining or going to the door. She understands routines well but can still be excitable and may need reminders when distracted. Like many young dogs, she benefits from structure, enrichment, and continued training. She currently has some mild stress-related skin and hair issues that improve with regular exercise, proper nutrition, and a lower-stress environment. She has no known medical issues otherwise, is currently eating Taste of the Wild food, and is not yet spayed, vaccinated, or microchipped. Vanilla originally came into my care from someone else. What was supposed to be temporary unexpectedly became two years. During that time, I have done everything I could to give her a safe and loving home. Unfortunately, due to disability and financial limitations, I am no longer able to consistently meet her exercise and activity needs long term. This has been an extremely difficult decision, but my goal is to find Vanilla a stable, loving home that can give her the time, attention, exercise, and consistency she deserves.
