Gulu and Romy are approximately 8-month-old German Shepherd mix puppies with very playful, energetic personalities. They have been outdoor dogs for most of their lives and would benefit greatly from structure, training, exercise, and consistent guidance. Both dogs are friendly with people and affectionate once comfortable. They are not fear-aggressive and have shown friendly behavior toward familiar adults and other larger dogs. They can be goofy and somewhat sensitive ('big babies') despite their size and often whimper or seek reassurance. Because they are still adolescent puppies with little formal training, they can play rough and become overly excited, especially around smaller animals or dogs. They are high-energy and need experienced handling, supervision, and appropriate outlets for exercise and mental stimulation. They are capable of jumping over or escaping lower fencing (around 4 feet), so secure containment is important. Gulu is especially gentle and sweet-natured with people during handling and veterinary care. Romy is playful and energetic and closely bonded with Gulu. These dogs would likely do best with: * experienced large-dog owners, * secure fencing, * active homes, * and continued training and socialization. Due to a recent livestock incident, they should not be placed in homes with goats or other farm animals.
