ժ Elroy's Heart Has Been Broken Once. Let's Not Let It Happen Again. For nine years, Elroy knew exactly where he belonged. He belonged beside his mom. Every morning, every evening, every quiet moment in between, this little Mini Schnauzer was right there by her side. She was his world, and he was hers. Then one day, she was gone. When Elroy's beloved owner passed away, his entire world disappeared overnight. The family who came to settle her affairs didn't take him in. Instead, they left him behind. For nearly two weeks, Elroy wandered the neighborhood alone. Imagine how confused he must have been. Day after day, searching for the house he knew. Waiting for the person he loved. Wondering why nobody came for him. Hungry. Dehydrated. Heartbroken. By the time a kind stranger found him and brought him to safety, Elroy was weak and stumbling from malnourishment. The little dog who had spent his life sleeping in a warm home suddenly found himself alone on the streets and then in a crowded shelter. Many dogs would have given up. But not Elroy. Somehow, through everything he's been through, this sweet boy still believes people are worth loving. Today, Elroy is healthy, safe, and ready for a new beginning. At 9 years old, he's the kind of companion many people spend years searching for. He's past the puppy chaos and into the wonderful stage of life where he simply wants to be near his person. Whether you're watching television, reading a book, or relaxing on the couch, Elroy is happiest just knowing he's not alone. He loves stuffed toys, enjoys chasing a ball now and then, and has a funny, charming personality that will keep you smiling. Being deaf doesn't slow him down one bit. In fact, he has developed his own adorable way of 'talking' through little grumbles, barks, and expressions that let you know exactly what he's thinking. He's house-trained, knows how to let you know when he needs to go outside, and despite having fewer teeth after dental surgery, he still approaches mealtime with enthusiasm. And if you're a fan of classic television, you'll be happy to know his favorite show is Columbo. But more than anything else, Elroy wants what he had before. A person. A lap. A home. A family. Someone who won't leave him behind. After everything he's endured, we desperately want the rest of Elroy's story to be a happy one. He has already known heartbreak. He has already experienced loss. What he deserves now is comfort, security, and a family who will cherish him for the rest of his days. Could you be the one who shows Elroy that love can come back into his life?
