Sterling is a complete love bug with his humans. He is a beautiful 70 lb mixed breed ( DNA shows predominantly Staffordshire Terrier ). He adapted to our home, my husband and myself immediately. We are an older couple with 22 yrs of owning/ loving Pitties. Sterling came from a St Louis No Kill facility in February this year. He had been a stray in St Louis before being picked up by Animal Services. Then rescued by a no kill facility, St Louis Care. However he was NOT socialized for the 7 months he was at there . Over crowding did not allow for the personel to socialize him once he was deemed 'shutdown'. Sterling showed up on my fb feed 8 months after my last Pitty died and I knew he was mine ( he was to be euthanized within 14 days due to overcrowding ) Though Sterling is very good with us, he hasn't been capable of socializing with dogs at all. He get's extremely aggressive and reactive even seeing dogs from a distance or window. I boarded him with Innovation K9 in Spanish Fork for 5 weeks of immersive training with 'tools', bought a new home so he could be safe in his own backyard. Unfortunately he is too much, too strong and too reactive for us. I am 74 and my husband 82. I'm afraid if we don't find the right person for him he could be put down due to his aggressive nature. We have been consistent using the methods and 'tools' used by Innovation K9. He does require consistent training. As I said he is pure joy and a huge love bug with Julio and I. We are broken hearted to lose him. But, believe he deserves to thrive with the right people/person who can handle him. He's a lot but...we believe redeemable.
