This is Sturgill. He is a 90lb purebred Male Bluetick Coonhoud who came to our family from a breeder a year ago when is was 18mo. He is an amazing dog and wonderful companion. He is good with other animals and loves to play and give hugs. It breaks my heart having to find a home for Sturgill as he is loved by our family and has been a great friend. For all of Sturgill's wonderful traits, unconditional love and playfulness he has occasional sleep agression. When he is awake he is always sweet and loving, great with kids and just wants to play. When he is in a deep sleep he can be startled awake where he has a few times been agressive, and snapping at whoever is touching him. This can be solved for by calling his name out and moving carefully when he is sleeping. This is a challenge for our family because we have young children. While he have never harmed our kids or others, he has snaped at my wife and I when startled awake. We would be devastated if this accidentally created an environment where a child gets injured. Sturgill would be great for a family with older kids and adults, where his sleeping location can be seperated and defined. Please reach out for more information or to meet Sturgill. We will be very selective as Sturgill is an important part of our family and we will only adopt him to a good home.
