PAISLEY is a beautiful 7-year-old, 13 pound miniature schnauzer who came to rescue as an owner surrender. PAISLEY is a very sweet and loving little girl once she trusts you, and that trust is the key to her heart. She is not the kind of dog who will immediately run up, jump in your lap, and shower you with affection. She struggles with meet-and-greets and takes time to feel safe with new people, so she needs someone patient who understands that love with Paisley is earned. But if you give her time to decompress and settle in, you'll discover a loyal, loving companion who bonds deeply with her person. PAISLEY absolutely adores her foster mom. She enjoys cuddling, giving kisses, and even wrestling around playfully on the bed. She loves sleeping snuggled up in the big bed next to her person and truly thrives when she feels safe and secure. At first, we thought PAISLEY might do best as an only dog, but after getting to know her better, we believe she would benefit from having another dog for companionship, preferably a calm, easygoing male around her size who is respectful of personal space and not overly pushy or 'in her face.' We do not know how she would be with cats and she should not go to a home with kids. We don't believe PAISLEY had much experience being a pet before coming to rescue and she is still learning. She is doing better with housebreaking and will use potty pads and has learned to use the dog door. She isn't a big fan of being outside on her own, and she enjoys it more if her person walks around with her. Leashes make her nervous, and because she can be skittish, a securely fenced yard is a must. PAISLEY can be vocal and, for reasons only she understands, she enjoys barking at her foster dad. It's not because she's scared of him, but apparently because she thinks it's part of her routine! She has shown some resource guarding of her person, which is why we feel she would do best in a quiet, low-key home with a single person or someone home most of the time who can help her continue building confidence and trust. PAISLEY is up to date on shots, spayed, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is heartworm positive and is currently being treated. The rescue will continue to cover her treatment until she tests heartworm negative. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
