BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Kissy Age: 8 months to 1 year estimated Breed: Jack Russell/Black Mouth Cur, 35-45 pounds Sex: Female (not spayed) Location: Muskegon County, Michigan Sweet Kissy was found by a Good Samaritan as a stray being abused by people on the street in February. Animal Control asked GS to take her in. Vet Info: Kissy is not believed to be up to date on her vaccinations, unknown for a Heartworm test but assumed none, does not appear to be spayed and has no microchip. One eye is half covered up and cloudy and the other is half covered up. GS thinks she is 80-90% blind in the light and completely blind in the dark. Dog Info: Kissy has had a rough time of it. The Good Samaritan found a man trying to run her over. Animal Control asked GS to take her home, they didn't want to take her to the shelter. Kissy is an indoor dog with the run of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained. Good Samaritan is a trainer and has trained her to go potty on command, sit, lay down, wait, and recall training. Kissy is an outgoing girl but she is also a bit shy. She is good with men, women and teenagers. She is good with male and female dogs and cats. She is currently living with two dogs and a cat. Kissy is not possessive with treats, toys or food. The first week she was very fearful and shy and a little aggressive. GS worked with her and all aggression is gone. Kissy is very energetic! Kissy has adapted well to new situations and surroundings and meeting new animals. GS would like to have her in a good home where her high energy needs can be met. Her blindness does not slow her down at all! **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
