About Bernie

My name is Bernie, and not long ago, my whole world changed. My beloved owner passed away, and I found myself in the care of a family member who wasn't sure what to do next. A kind dog advocate pointed them to Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue, and within 24 hours, I was safe, loved, and starting fresh. Sometimes it takes a whole team of angels. I'm an 8-year-old, 20-pound gentle Cocker Spaniel boy. I'm good with dogs, cats, and kids, and yes - I'm fully housebroken! I'm pretty good on leash and absolutely LOVE sniffing my way around the neighborhood. I'm also a great car rider, so road trips? Count me in! I'm a little shy when I first meet you, but I warm up quickly. Once I trust you, I want to be near you - not ON you, just... close. I have a crate, but honestly? I prefer the big bed. On top of the covers, thank you very much. (Don't worry, I won't jump up uninvited - I wait to be lifted like the gentleman I am.) I do have a heart murmur, managed with a low-dose medication I take like a total pro. I also have inoperable bilateral cataracts, but don't let that fool you - I get around just fine! And fair warning: if I'm feeling a little sad or lonely, I might let out a howl to let you know. I have feelings, okay? So condo living may not be for me.
