About Maverick

Hi there, my name is Maverick. Uh, I'm not really the type to run up and introduce myself right away. I'm more of a sit-back-and-watch kind of guy. I just like to take my time figuring people out, ya know? For a while, I was out there on my own. I spent a long time running around town as a stray, trying to survive and learning that the world could feel pretty scary. Somewhere along the way I became lost, and I wasn't sure if I could trust humans anymore. When I was finally caught, I was terrified, so I kept my distance and stayed tucked away in my shell. But then some people decided I was worth trying for. Now little by little, things have started changing. I've learned that not every human wants something from me. Some of them just want to sit nearby and let me exist exactly as I am. Turns out, I really dig that. I'm a Labrador/Great Pyrenees mix, which means I'm a bit of both worlds. Part of me enjoys connection, and another part of me values my independence. I love being outside, going for walks, and riding in the car. And if I'm being honest, other dogs make me feel pretty brave. They help me remember that maybe the world isn't so scary after all! I'm not really a cuddler, I'm more of a quiet companion, the kind who loves to simply just chill or explore beside you. Give me some space, some patience, and maybe a few tasty treats (I do take food very seriously), and I'll keep making progress! I think my perfect family will understand that trust doesn't happen all at once. Some stories take a little longer to tell. Could you be the right new friend for me? I sure hope so!
