[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Special needs Chihuahua. Please read fully. Meet Tilly: Small but Mighty! %90%BE 'Location: Harford County, Maryland Age: Turns 3 in October Weight: A tiny 3.8 pounds Breed: Chihuahua (with a massive personality!) 'Tilly is looking for a very special, dedicated forever home. Right now, we are searching for a private home where she can be the center of someone's world and spoiled with individualized care. If we can't find the perfect match soon, she will be headed to a wonderful sanctuary for senior and disabled animals-but we would love to see her get her own person first! 'ե Personality Profile: 'Don't let her health challenges fool you-Tilly is a happy, spunky, and incredibly feisty little girl! She absolutely craves attention and loves to be loved. In fact, she's got so much confidence that she can be a bit of a bully with the other small dogs in her current home (she definitely forgets she's under 4 pounds!). '٩ Understanding Tilly's Medical Needs: 'Tilly is a special-needs pup who requires a dedicated caregiver. Here is an honest, simplified breakdown of her conditions: 'Mobility & Incontinence: Tilly has a neurological condition called thoracolumbar myelopathy. In simple terms, her brain and her back legs don't communicate properly, causing her to have wobbly mobility. Because of this, she also has fecal incontinence. 'Eating & Digestion: We initially thought Tilly was vomiting from movement, but a neurologist explained that she is actually regurgitating due to a suspected condition called megaesophagus. Her esophagus has trouble moving food down to her stomach on its own. Because of this, Tilly must sit completely upright to eat and stay upright for a bit afterward so gravity can do the work for her. ' What's Next for Her Care? 'We want to be entirely transparent about Tilly's medical future. Comfort care and quality of life are our absolute priorities for her. 'A Note on Further Testing: An MRI could give more definitive answers about her neurological issues, but it requires anesthesia. Because of her regurgitation risk, going under anesthesia is incredibly dangerous for her. While an MRI might reveal something treatable by surgery, that surgery would cost upwards of $20,000 and would carry extreme risks. We are absolutely not asking an adopter to take on or cover a $20,000 surgery. We simply want her future family to know her reality: Tilly is a palliative/comfort-care pup who needs love, routine, and management, rather than risky medical interventions. '%8F The Ideal Home: 'Tilly needs a patient, attentive hero who is ready to manage her upright feedings, keep her clean and comfortable, and give her all the love her big heart desires. 'If you think you have the heart, the time, and the home for this feisty little fighter, please reach out directly for more information. Let's get Tilly the happily-ever-after she deserves!
