Buddy is a high-energy, playful boy who loves toys, loves the pool, and enjoys being active. He has participated in playgroups and can be rough and rowdy with other dogs. While he can be selective and sometimes struggles with impulse control, Buddy has also shown he can do well in the yard with proper handling and structure. Buddy is very excitable and can become mouthy when overstimulated. He recently began muzzle work after getting overly excited during play, which resulted in a minor injury to another dog. This could have resulted from rough play when Buddy didn't know how to slow down. Earlier notes described Buddy as soft, shy, and lower energy, but after spending extended periods isolated in medical due to illness, his kennel behavior began to deteriorate. He now displays high FAS behaviors in the kennel including jumping, circling, barking, and difficulty settling. Despite the shelter stress, Buddy continues to seek engagement, affection, and play. He would benefit greatly from an experienced handler willing to provide structure, continued training, decompression, and proper outlets for his energy. Buddy deserves the chance to safely leave the shelter environment before it's too late.
